ITINERARY
Train Itinerary: Arequipa – Titicaca Lake – Cusco
Departures: every saturday night.
Post Tour Itinerary: Cusco – Sacred Valley – Machu Picchu

Day 1: Saturday – Arequipa
Board the train in the baroque city of Arequipa. Settle down in your cabin and adapt to the atmosphere of the train as you begin your journey to Puno. Then you will be invite to move to one of the elegant dining cars to enjoy the first dinner on board. Relax and savor refined Andean dishes served in a contemporary style. After dinner, you can go to the car bar to enjoy a cocktail and meet your travel companions. Accomodation on board in Deluxe Doble Bed Cabin. Meals included: Dinner.

Day 2: Sunday – Titicaca Lake
This day you will wake up early to live the fascinating experience of witness the sunrise across Titicaca Lake. Breakfast is served on board, the perfect way to start a day full of adventure. In the afternoon you will explore Titicaca Lake, the highest navigable lake in the world. The beautiful lake is home of diverse islands, each with a unique lifestyle. First you will take a traditional boat to Uros, a man-made island ingeniously built with intertwined rushes that are constantly being replenished. The people who live on the island use the same canes to create houses, boats and tools. You will continue the exploration towards the island of Taquile, notable for its impressive agricultural terraces. The people here follow a social code that has barely been touched by time, and their handmade fabric factories are considered the best in Peru. Enjoy a lunch at Collata beach, followed by a performance of local dancers and a demonstration of craftsmans at work. Return to the lake station to take the afternoon tea. Board the train and relax while you travel to Cusco. At night you will enjoy the dinner at the dining car. Accomodation on board in Deluxe Doble Bed Cabin. Day 3: Monday – Cusco
Wake up and enjoy a delicious breakfast, accompanied by breathtaking views while the train departs from Marangani. On the way, we will disembark to visit Raqchi. In the past an important Inca settlement, today this fascinating archaeological site has many architectural gems. Very soon we will arrive to Cusco, ancient capital of the Inca Empire. Farewell of the crew and disembarkation. Meals included: Breakfast.

POST TOUR: “THE SACRED CITY”
Day 1: Cusco
At your arrival at Wanchaq Train Station, private transfer to selected hotel in Cusco. You will have time to relax. In the afternoon, Half Day City tour in Cusco: Korikancha Temple, The Cathedral, Sacsayhuamán, Kenko and Puca-Pucará. You will visit the imperial city, a living example of the mixture of Andean and Spanish culture. The tour begins at the Koricancha Temple, the ancient Inca palace and main center for the worship of the Sun God. Then, you will tour the Plaza de Armas, where you will visit the Cathedral. Make a stop at the Mirador San Cristóbal, from where you will enjoy a beautiful view of the city. Continue ascending to the Sacsayhuaman Fortress, an imposing example of Inca military architecture that dominates the city. Then, you will visit the archaeological sites of Kenko, enjoy the panoramic view of the Puca-Pucara archaeological complex. Finally, you will visit the Inka’s Expresion art workshop, which presents artists working in silver, paint and wood; ideal visit to understand Andean art. Accomodation in selected hotel in Cusco Meals included: none.

Day 2: Cusco – Valle Sagrado
Full Day Tour: Essence of the Sacred Valley: Chinchero, Textile Session and Ollantaytambo. You will visit Chinchero, a small and picturesque town that houses an important Inca archaeological center built at the end of the 15th century, as well as a beautiful and traditional church. Then you will visit the home of a local family where you can appreciate how they have preserved the traditional Andean spinning and weaving techniques and where they will also show you how they get the bright colors for their looms naturally. Then, on the way to Ollantaytambo, you will stop at the Racchi viewpoint, where you will have some of the best views of the Sacred Valley. Afterwards, lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Continue to Ollantaytambo, one of the most representative architectural complexes of the ancient Inca Empire and one of the few places where the Spanish conquerors lost an important battle. Well known for its platforms, Ollantaytambo was a very effective fortress that also served as a temple. Finally, continue to the town of Ollantaytambo, known as “the only living Inca city”; It is the best existing example of Inca urban planning, with stone streets that are still inhabited since the 12th century. Accomodation in selected hotel in Sacred Valley. Meals included: Breakfast and lunch.

Day 3: Valle Sagrado – Machu Picchu – Cusco
Full day Visit to Machu Picchu. Early in the morning, transfer to the train station. You will visit one of the world’s tourist landmarks: the citadel of Machu Picchu. The excursion starts on board of the “Expedition” train. Upon your arrival in Aguas Calientes, you will begin your ascent to Machu Picchu, where, surely, you will live one of the most unforgettable experiences. Once there, you can walk through every corner of one of the Seven Wonders of the world, accompanied by an expert guide, and enjoy free time to explore the area. At the appropriate time, you will descend to the town of Aguas Calientes and later board the return train to Cusco, via the Ollantaytambo station. Upon your arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel. Accomodation in selected hotel in Cusco Meals included: Breakfast and lunch.

Day 4: Cusco
At scheduled time, transfer from hotel to Cusco Airport. Meals included: Breakfast.
